The Family Support Center was established in 1992. The Adoption &Family Support Center is a licensed child placing agency that specializes in individualized adoption support services to adoptive and birth families. We can help you with each step of your adoption journey. With nearly two decades of experience, our staff's skills are second to none. Once the home study is complete, we will guide you through the adoption process and never leave your side.
The members of the Adoption & Family Support Center bring their special talents, education and skills to the agency. Each member of the team is uniquely qualified to meet the needs of our clients and we share a commitment to building families. We believe that through support, empowerment and education each child will reach his or her full potential. We believe that both birth and adoptive families cherish the children who touch their lives.
ANGELA QUICK, M.P.A. – Founder,
Adoption Social Worker, Birth Parent Counselor
Angela has worked in the social service field since 1988.
She has been providing adoption services to Florida families
since 1989.
Angela began her adoption career with the Florida Department
of Children & Families (previously HRS) as a counselor and trainer
for Model Approach to Partnership in Parenting (MAPP). While
working with DCF and The Family Support Center of Florida,
she has assisted in over 1,000 domestic and international adoption
placements.
She believes in empowering adoptive and birth parents with accurate information, being ever-mindful of confidentiality and the best interests of the child. Through her forward-thinking attitude, The Adoption & Family Support Center has established a highly respected reputation built on knowledge, honesty and responsive communication. She is thoroughly versed in the current home study requirements as established by Florida Statutes Chapter 63, and adapts home study documentation to meet those requirements as changes in the law occur.
In addition to her experience as a home study provider, Angela is trained in many aspects of social work surrounding children and families. She is also a certified Family Law Mediator, Exceptional Education teacher, custody evaluator and children's advocate. She has given testimony as an expert witness in litigated adoption and custody cases. Angela also is a member of the Florida Adoption Council's Board of Directors and her office designed and maintains the FAC website.
Angela is a second generation Floridian who was born in Melbourne, Florida. She moved to Daytona Beach, Florida when she was eleven years old. EDNA L. BROWN, LMHC, M.A. – Licensed Mental Health Counselor
Edna joined the Adoption & Family Support Center in 1998 and has been
working in the field of mental health counseling and adoption for the past
17 years.
Edna is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida
(License #MH-5357), and additionally has met all the criteria as a Certified
Clinical Supervisor for license eligible interns in the mental health field.
Edna began her career as a Therapist with a national, not-for-profit
Community Mental Health Agency, eventually becoming a Director of
Outpatient Services, overseeing mental health and psychiatric services in
the Central Florida region. Edna's interest and passion in working with adoptive and birth families eventually led her to focus her practice solely in the field of adoption.
In addition, to her licensure and experience in mental health and adoption, Edna also has completed post-graduate studies in pastoral counseling, which she has incorporated into the work she currently does with A&FSC. She has also received extensive professional training in the area of custody evaluations. With the Adoption & Family Support Center, Edna provides home study services, supervision and overview of cases, as well as mental health assessments.
Edna has lived in the Daytona Beach area since moving here at age 11 with her family. She is happily married to her husband of 18 years, and has two wonderful teenage sons. She and her family love Central Florida. They take every opportunity to enjoy the area's waterways as avid boaters and enjoy the many wonderful attractions and natural resources that the area has to offer.
PAM HUNTER, Administrative Assistant
Pam has worked in office administration and customer service for
over 25 years. She was a paralegal with a Florida family law
attorney for nine years, during which time she assisted in over 50
adoptions. She has been the office manager and information
coordinator with the Adoption & Family Support Center since 1995.
Pam's background and knowledge within the industry enables her to
answer questions and provide accurate information to and between prospective adoptive families, birth parents and adoption entities. She schedules the required preliminary and post placement home visits with adoptive families, birth parent interviews, trainings and meetings.
Pam was born and raised in northeast Ohio and was a Florida resident for 19 years. She recently returned to northeast Ohio where she has two wonderful daughters, their husbands and seven delightful grandchildren. Our technological advances have created a situation in which she can manage Adoption & Family Support Center duties while also enjoying the company of her children and grandchildren.
ELISA MAFFUCCI, Assistant
Elisa joined the Adoption & Family Support Center in 2009 and
has been instrumental in our media development and implentation.
In addition to this, Elisa has also assisted in the daily office
responsiblities.
Elisa is married and has two children; a handsome son and a beautiful daughter. She had
the privilege of being a stay-at-home mom for the past 11 years. Prior to that, she
worked as an Administrative Assistant in the insurance industry before resigning to open her own in-home child care facility.
Elisa was born and raised in New Jersey and spent most of her life there before moving
to Nevada in 1999. In 2003, Elisa and her family relocated to Florida and have been enjoying all the advantages the state has to offer.
