EXAMPLE BIRTH PARENT LETTER
As you will see below, this first letter includes a short biography of the perspective adoptive parents.
Thank you for taking the time to read about us
We feel God has truly blessed the broken roads that brought us together. Rich and BJ started dating in 2005 and married in 2008. It was a joyous celebration with all our family and close friends. We live with our two daughters, the oldest being 18 is in the U.S. Army and the youngest, 16, is a junior in HS majoring in Drama We have 5 Chihuahua’s that are treated as our babies as well, a home full of love.
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY raised by my mom. My dad passed away when I was very young. I was the youngest of 3 older brothers and 1 older sister. Family dinners and holiday traditions are life-long great memories, that I hold on to and keep going on now with my family. Sunday morning starting off with a big family breakfast, music going on in the background, the sauce cooking all day with homemade meatballs and sausage to go with the past. Let’s not forget cannolis or cheesecake for dessert. Big family gatherings often close of friends over the house laughing and having a good time, just enjoying each others’ company (they were all considered extended family). My love for music and dance kept me occupied. I attended dance classes since I was 4 years old and graduated to Russian Toe private classes as a pre-teen. Big time city girl moved to Florida in 1994. Raising the children was priority and very important that they were of full time school age before pursuing a degree and starting my career in the medical field. My children mean the world to me, there education, determination to obtain there lifelong goals and happiness is very important to me. We have a very close, loving family. A relationship that even as young adults they still look forward to family outings and spending time together. I’m not only their mom, but I am their best friend. My mom and my sister along with her family later moved to Florida as well. We all live within 10 miles from each other and have a great relationship. Our dedication is to God and our family. Thank for reading, BJ
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. I was raised by my mom and dad, along with my older sister and younger brother. I come from a large family that values respect and love for one another. This was a family that didn’t need a holiday to gather everyone together, as every weekday and weekend was spent among family and friends. Of course my favorite meals were arroz con gandules and rotisserie chicken, as well as mashed potatoes and good ole fried chicken. I moved to sunny Florida in 1999 to enjoy the green grass and sunny skies. As an avid swimmer and runner, I began competing in swimming events, triathlons and various running distances from the 5k to a full marathon. I also enjoy entering running events to raise money for charities such as the “leukemia and Lymphoma Society”. When not running or relaxing with my family, I am at work as a Wireless Network Engineer which I enjoy very much. I love God, the Church, my family, value hard work and good ethics and higher education. Thank you for reading, Rich.

This is a poem a perspective family decided to display in their Dear Mother booklet.
Thank you
Once there were two women who never knew each other
One you do no remember. The other you call mother.
Two different lives shaped to make your one.
One became your guiding star. The other became your sun.
The first gave you life. And the second taught you to live in it
The first gave you a need for love and the second was there to give it.
One gave you a nationality. The other gave you a name.
One gave you the seed of talent. The other gave you aim.
One gave you emotions. The other calmed your fears
One saw your first sweet smile. The other dried your tears.
One gave you up – it was all that she could do.
The other prayed for a child, and God led her straight to you.
A mother’s love…….Your courageous choice has filled my arms. I am forever grateful, our eternal bond….Life!

Also enclosed in a Dear Birth Mother booklet is a short letter specifically written to the Birth Mother, acknowledging her fears and appreciating the sacrifices she is making.
Something that we feel strongly about is that God should be the center of our home. We believe in unconditional love and in never giving up on the family unit. One of our greatest desires is to create a home where our children will always feel love and security and where a sense of positive self-esteem is soundly developed. As parents, we strive to teach strong moral character and the importance of serving others.
We both come from big families and enjoy having friends, neighbors and loved ones in our home. We are grateful to have each other and enjoy being parents. It would be an honor for us to share everything we have with your child.
We can only imagine how difficult the decision to place your baby for adoption must be for you. During the difficult process, we hope you find peace in knowing that what you are doing is special, courageous, and provides a joyous blessing for the family you choose. We know you must have questions that you need answered before you choose a family. We hope that this letter will allow you to get to know us.
We will gladly send pictures and letters, if that is something you desire. Should you choose our family, please know that your name will always be spoken with sincere respect and with nothing but gratitude for the blessing you gave us to love and raise your child.
Furthermore, we pray that you may find comfort and divine guidance in choosing what is best for you and your child.
Thank you for your consideration.
Rich and BJ
